  • One of the most common problems that all computer teachers can identify with is kids stealing mouse balls. As with many things in life, the solution is super-glue. Remove the cover that holds the ball in place, put two small dots of super-glue on the track that the cover sites on, and replace the cover. There, you've now made it impossible for kids to steal the ball. However, you've also made it impossible for you to clean out the mouse. Or have you? Most mice have a single screw on the bottom of them that can be removed, which will allow you to clean the mouse's innards. On MAC mice, this screw is often hidden under the part number sticker, so you'll have to remove that first. This solution won't help you to stop kids from stealing the entire mouse, but that's a far bigger "theft" that most kids would be able to sleep at night doing.
