I'm looking for a program that will always scan my network to know what computer is up and running and warn when a specific computer log on the...

is snort able to block intrusions or is it just a logger?? :confused:

Anyone know what IDS's really do ? I'd be really greatful for any information about how they work and why they are are important (if they are)....
