I need a good counter... preferably remotely hosted. My free host doesn't allow and thing like PHP, Perl or any of that jazz... But, i guess it could be done in JavaScript or DHTML??
I tried Bravenet's counters, and they were so slow that i had to stop using them. The page it was on took like 10 times longer to load... on a Cable connection.
Thanks in Advance!

The JavaScript is not realy an option, since it only counts per user (per browser) with cookies
The JavaScript looks for the cookie and if it isn't there, it places one.
If the Cookie is pressent, it adds one (1) to the number of visits and displays that number..
an example of this kind of counter
so that would not be an option..
I could make you a counter on my server (CGI-BIN image) you could include that http://urlofmyserver/cgi-bin/sonicdragon.counter
an example of this kind of counter
But my server is not realy stable (well the server is but the DSL line it is on is not ;)) so again.. not an option..
Then there is always:
http://www.fxweb.com/tracker/
http://www.statsmachine.com/counter.html
and if you google I'll bet you'll find some more..
btw cool site SonicDragon !!

Is .ASP allowed? If so, you can code an .ASP counter really easy....

try there people http://www.extreme-dm.com/tracking/
It's a bit more than just a counter, it will also track where people have come from to get to you site, so you see where all you traffic is coming from. And best of it's free!
Edit: it's all javascript based

I've had really great results with OKCounter. It's a Japanese site, but offers over a 100 different counter styles to choose from, free statistics, and it's quick and easy to change your style.

Thanks!
I am going with StatsMachine right now, but i booked marked them all just incase. They all look great.
It's running on the bottom of my index page now if you want to check it out. Really simple, text-based, orange counter ;)
