m$ exchange vs opera
my work insists on trying to 'break' my lovely opera web browser
first with ntlm authentication which i got a work around
now they have replaced the old email with m$ exchange
i can no longer recieve/send emails from opera
SO i found an app called mr postman, this works by pulling off emails from exchange but does not delete them. further when at work i can collect but can not send (can not connect to my home isp and opera can not connect to exchange)
is there a way i can somehow set up an email server at home to collect mail and resend it to another account where i can collect it at work
i have had a look at email redirecting software but they only seem to work well on pop3 accounts and i do not think exchange uses this
(oh i can access work via https)
please do not say i'll have to use outlook!!!!
your fantastic thoughts please

Well...you can always use Outlook Web Access.
You should really talk to your system admin....about what services are available.
Using both outlook and exchange is a very powerful tool for sharing and collaboration...
What is your issue with using outlook???

yep might have to use poxy outlook web access but it is worse than their old web mail.
have been using opera for 5 years and it is great does everything in one package. i do not like idea of opening multiple programmes (one for web, one for mail, one for rss, one for chat. opera does it all in one go)
the fact work think they are going a step forward by breaking most staff's email clients really gets my bits.....,hey there business if they want to spend cash on proporiety leaky software!!

Not if it is set up right
Anyhoo...some places you have no choice....use it or look for another job

well that has told me!!
suppose you are right
just annoys me they think it is a step forward!!
this sounds rather nurdish but i have to keep my head low as i 'accidently' found the admin password years ago and they have never forgiven me, fancy not realising it would be stored locally!!
will have to see what opera kestrel has up its sleave
-
Yeah...with the old NT 4.0 server\domains ...it was stored locally....on every WS
Not anymore though....

if i learn java in a few mins
i have a script which can retrieve from owa and puts it in my opera inbox
if i learn pear in a few mins
i am sure i could write something which sux out my inbox and emails it to another account
how does that sound
or i should use outlook
wonder if i can write a plugin for opera.....
btw
do you like outlook then!!

outlook is decent, I can't deny that it gets the job done. But there are other opensource options, you could use thunderbird **shrug (it'd only be two programs)
-
tried thunderbird but could not get it to connect to owa

For scheduling and shared contacts...it is great in a business environment. Guess it all depends on what you do
Also all data is stored on the server...so you lose your computer...just get a new one and point to the mailbox..
Easy peasy. ;)
I learn and use the tools that are given to me....
Share Point is my new fav
