Personally i have been using Ag satillite , wich works very well except there are some songs copy-protected so i am forced to use Imesh also to get those songs , i have not found imesh to be a stable program , it eats up all the computer memory and forces a restart , but it works for what it is intended to work for.
What is your favorite sharing program ?
Napter is and will always be king! The only problem is now there gonna wanna charge you $$$. What else? I mean the next best program in iMesh, Morpheus is ok is you want a place to find practicly ANYTHING!:eek:

I can usually find what I want on the forgotten net zone...NEWSGROUPS. Time is required and you need to be patient but rarely do you ever have to worry about the data being lost or removed during download.

I like the Gnutella approach better: p to p= no control. The Gnutella network has been improved by KaZaA : super nodes were introduced (central computers, but worldwide --> try to take that down!). It also beats Napster when it comes to speed, because of the multiple downloads (same file, dowloaded from diferent computers at the same time). Still free, but you'll have to pay in a few months. There's rumours KaZaA is spyware, too.
Then there's WinMX : very popular, so the network is down / full a lot. Bút you can resume downloads, which you can't with KaZaA nor Napster.
And of course there's Morpheus : in my opinion the best there is: you combine all the advantages of the preceeding ones, et voilÃ*.
Forget all the sharing programs - IRC was around before and will be around after.
As far as the Audio Galaxy songs that you can't download - if you search specifically for that song and artist, you can find it.
I have heard that kaza itself does not contain spyware , but the other programs that the installation allows you to choose from contain spyware, i simply skipped them.
Were did you hear that payment would be required for kaza in a few months ?

My problem is, the Naspter SERVICE blows. That would be why I use the Naspter client to connect to OpenNap servers. On average, there is about 175GB of ONLY MP3s online.. As opposed to Morpheus's stock pile of cheap third world country pr0n. Not to mention the reliability of knowing that you're 9 times out of 10, with a Napster client, you know you're getting a complete file. I would trade getting a complete file for "resume downloads" any day of week.. oh, and Morpheus uses KaZaZXK+Sgdsfkljg or whatever the hell you were talking about.. I see no superiority between that and good old OpenNap.

And about the third world country p0rn: there's some options in Morpheus: Audio, Video, Images, Documents and Software. Don't click the Video option, and you won't get third world country p0rn. You're like those guys complaining they stumbled upon extreme hardcore trying to find an 'Extreme' song (the band, that is). Don't blame the messenger, blame the message.

i have used many mp3 sharing programs but i find if you look for a site that allows free downloads like mp3.com you can find some music not all but sometimes you can find the one you want and their all good quality..
Music City has a product on their site that has worked awesome for me. I have heard of a few people having problems installing, but none here. More importantly, there is absolutely NO SPYWARE in the package.
Once I got used to the interface, I could grab files more effectively than Napster and I should add the program searches for more than MP3s; pics, video, and programs also.

I would say that it is defiently the fastest, most reliable on the bunch.
It's introduction of "Super-Nodes" helps alot, the fact that you can select what type of media your looking for, and the fact that it simultaneously downloads from multiple users.
KaZaA is great.
I still find myself listening to alot of cd's though...

I dont know where you heard that.
A 128kbps mp3 is of equal quality to a wav/ cdda file.
I wouldnt be really worried about format anyways, that is, if your using computer speakers (the stupidest creation on the planet).

I've gotta put in a vote for the Gnutella network; specifically, BearShare . While it's not as intuitive as KaZaA or other programs, it has some features that they don't have: primarily, the ability to connect to specific other users. It uses bandwidth pretty well, and runs without sapping too many system resources. It also is run without any "centrality," which means no usernames, email addresses, or the like.
If you disagree, however, I've found that
Zeropaid.com is a pretty good place to start when looking for a file sharing utility.
Nothing wrong with KaZaA, except for the SIX spyware programs it contains. One of them is Cydoor, and KaZaA won't even work without that one (try using Ad-Aware and delete Cydoor - your KaZaA client will be messed up).Quote:

One program I noticed that nobody has said anything about is LimeWire (www.limewire.com). It uses the Gnutella network and is strictly P2P file sharing of all types. Nobody owns the Gnutella network so it can't be shutdown anyway. It will let you add your own Gnutella servers and select which ones you want to search by and everything, also it lets you limit your upload and download bandwidth (granted lots of others do that as well). I used a cable connection and some nights it have access to 40TB (thats terabytes for the little kids who don't know). It lets you define what type of media you are looking for better than IMesh (imo):
1 Audio
2 Video
3 Programs
4 Text Files
5 Pictures
Some of you might like it. Its written in pure Java so it loads a little slow but it's features are well worth it. And it loads no spyware.
My favorite is Morpheus. You can get just about anything on it.
I like Limewire too, but it's a bit of a bit of a bandwidth hog.
Personally, I've been pretty happy with LimeWire. It supports resumed downloads, no spyware (that I could detect), searches for all filetypes, or filters the filetype you need to search for, has terabytes of available "stuff", and is very stable on Win32 platform (don't know about other OS's...) Maybe I missed something, but I tried all the P2P clients I could find and it's the one that is left on my box... I'm always happy to get other opinions though... Anybody else used Limewire?

I use audiogalaxy for its simple interface, however lately more songs are hard to find. Of course I thought napster was great when it was around except for a few problems. If the person you were downloading from disconnected, you had to start all over again. Then near the end you had to type in the artist name so misspelled that there would be no copyright problems. Anyway where can I find full episodes of Southpark to download?
in my opinion, it's got to be morpheus. it finds just about anything you want and it searches for multiple sources. very good. i also use imesh sometimes but that isn't as good because there aren't as many things on it and its slow A LOT of the time. get morpheus, i don't think you will go wrong.

AOL has this really lame thing called Radio AOL and it plays free music while your on the internet. I was at my mom's the other day an found a way to record it. They usually have some good music, at least they have Techno, and Trance. So I'm getting free music ! lol.

Napster killed the file sharing business and should fall off the face of the earth. (Just my opinion)
I acually liked Scour Exchange myself, before it died out. Now Kazza and Morpheus are my chioces for downloading but it looks like they might be dying here soon.
Though the super nodes of Kazza allow faster and more reliable downloads I'm posistive that Kazza is spyware. Just periodically check you netstat and youll the random connections it make to god knows where. And I never really liked the fact that when I use Kazza it like to create all sort of places to put it self in my registery, or is it just me. Oh well, I really should complain cause I still it.
I like limeware though.
