Refresh rate
I sometimes have problems with windows and menus staying on screen after they've been closed. This usually happens after playing a game or other memory intensive activities (..hmmm, that sounds like some kind of exercise...)
Anyway, would this be reduced if I increased the refresh rate of my monitor?
thanks

djhuk,
Increasing the refresh of your monitor will only help if you had a very good video card. Then, if you had a slow video card and you have your resolution configured to 32 bits, it could help to see smooth graphics but it will slower you graphics scroll. Memory (combined with video card) is essential to work with graphics, scrollings and games. So, do you have enough memory and a good 3D accelerator video card???
Bye.

Try this tweak. It's from the briliant site TweakXP. I had a similar problem and it worked wonders for me....Good luck!

Great link and info, C_K, is there a similar cache-reliever for W98? That one is for XP configurations and it does seem to work.

I'm not too sure for Win98. I've used the tweak on a Win2000 box and it seemed to do the trick. I'm sure our good friend Mr Google would be able to tell ya.... ;)

Been Google-ing there, lots of stuff for developers to use in writing their programs and info on unloading .dll's from other app's but nothing on W98 resource release of terminated programs. Owell, i'm about to upgrade all the boxes here to W2G anyway, as soon as i migrate all the data from physical drives onto each secondary so i can have a clean drive to load to. Problem solved, on a couple of resource issues present with W98. :)

I believe Conf1rm3d_K1ll's tip did the trick, but let me still tell what I would have suggested...
1) Get a software that frees your memory. MajorGeeks.com has a lot of those.
or 2) Go buy some more memory.
