I think if we are subscribed to a thread, and someone has posted a new reply, we should be notified on the main page somehow. Like a link telling us there is a new reply or something.

you get email if you subscribe to a thread with a link directly to it.
although that not a horrible idea.
Yes i know about that email. But sometimes i spend vast amounts of times replying and waiting around on the boards (yes i know thats pretty sad...), and purposely subscribe to threads that i want to read replies of. It's easier if i can just go to the main page and it will have any new posts to threads i am subscribed to.
