There ain't any left/right outside the brackets of the forum/thread in the forum"part" of the homepage. This function exists in the sub-forums and perhaps you mean in the "home"page. But not on the main forum for every user active in all sub-forums.
I'll take a SS and post it on imagehack if you think it's still unclear. But I think we are just aiming at two differenct sections of the page.
I think it is fairly simple. The front page is where you login. You are then taken to a second page where you have some member options like seeing who is online.
These options are for members only, so they don't appear until you have logged in.
Incidentally, it isn't that accurate.

I would of thought that it would of been pulling the stats straight from the database.
just a curious question, maybe i should go and pm jpnyc and ask why.. :)
My guess would be that it doesn't update in real time, but refreshes periodically.
In this new version, upgraded today, a user shows as online up to 15 minutes after logging off. It doesn't update in real time
