Out of band access.

Hi all,
It been a while I know. Any way to the reason for the post. I inherited the responsability for our Out of band connect to our routers in the event they become isolated from the network. That I was given two unbuntu boxes with a 4 port perl modem card installed and an in house application programmed in perle. On our different POPS(sites) we have various cisco comserver.
I would like to developped the solution as it is not too stable and was wondering what you guys are using or recommand as a solution for the front end.
All comments are welcome.
My other option at the moment is to get up to speed in perle programming and rewrite the front end. :drink:
