open file
insert line
close file
please give us some more info to work with ;)
I have the line I need to add. I don't know how to open or get to the Host File . SSS( sorry so stupid) Thanks for the quick reply
Im using XP
Search for 'Hosts'
Right click on 'Hosts' (no extension, not HOSTS.SAM) open with notepad
Insert line
Save
Change properties to read only.
First you have to find it.

Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
(you may need administrator access for Windows NT/2000/XP)
Usually, you will only find hosts.sam, which is a sample file.
The hosts file is not enabled by default. Open hosts.sam, or make a copy
of it. Add the line you want, and then save as hosts with no
file extension. Notepad is brain-dead, and will try to save it
as hosts.txt. If it does, just right click the file and rename it.
Might want to check this site for a couple of HOST file managers

What does akamaitechnologies hitting ports have to do with your host file? Maybe you should tell us what exactly you're trying to accomplish as I have a feeling it doesn't really have much to do with a host file.Quote:

Akamai IIRC, is just a bandwith front to Microsoft?
Wouldn't that be normal?
