I saw an interesting article today.
I can see it now. Some pranksters creating such a device and placing it on or near the doors of the nissan dealership... That should do wonders for the test drives or potential customers.

Hey phish~,
Not in Boston they wouldn't.................we all know what "Boston's Finest" would do with such a device?
Probably blow the Nissans up as well............. for the opera afficionados here it would be Pavarotti singing "My Nissan is Dormant"?
;):p:D
ack.....guess what make of car I have....
Isnt that only for the cars that have the smart key? So if you dont have a new nissan aardpsymon dont worry :-)
I guess women are more vulnerable as they tend to keep everything in a handbag?
I remember that causing problems on more than one occasion. They would put their handbag on the desk next to their VDU. If the VDU went south it would scramble their credit cards and stuff
Haha dont you love technology! I love how they "cant be reprogrammed" but they can be altered from cellphones? Something seems wrong there.
I cant imagine what people say when it happens to them: "Oh no I have to actually turn the key!"
Hmmm,
I don't believe that they can't be reprogrammed. It is just that the user and dealer cannot do it, and it isn't worth the delay sending them to Nissan?
The article says they cant be reprogrammed thats why I say that. You are right dealers probably cannot do it but it is possible. I would think it is since they are so sensitive from other interference.
Solution stop keeping your cellphone in the same pocket or purse as your keys and give dealers access to programming they i-keys.
No chance,
This isn't a big enough problem to make it economical to do anything more than provide replacements via the dealerships.
I could see how in the wrong hands the machines that program them could be used maliciously. You would see people starting any car from a push of a button every where you go!
