Gmail woes :(

Well i am trying to check my emails at
http://gmail.google.com
and i sign in and then this red box appears saying loading and then nothing happens.
I let it sit there for like 10 minutes and still nothing happens, i tried refreshing the page and the same thing happens.
I don't know what i'm doing wrong, and i don't know what to do.
I'm using internet explorer if that's any help?
The newest version as my friend did a update on my computer a few days ago.
Any and all help would be much appreciated.

P.S: I'm sorry if i have started this thread in the wrong area. But becuase i'm a newbie i thought this would be the right area to post me newbie question..

Gmail has a ton of users, so every so often it will hang at that beginning screen. Try a ctrl+r within IE to do a complete refresh (grab new data rather than use what you've already downloaded) to see if that helps the process for now.

Just tried your idea pooh sun tzu.
And it did not seem to work.
Is there anything else i could try/do to get it to load up properly?

Oh thank you pooh sun tzu..
It took me a few minutes to change the settings (couldn't work out were this TOOLS thingy was. lol).

Anyhow i changed everything as it said and then restarted Internet Explorer and logged into gmail and it actually worked this time :)
