My firewall has alerted a couple of times of a non familiar IP address
trying to connect thru a wrong port. I have the IP how can I find out
who owns the address?
I know they are recorded somewhere but not sure where. :confused:

It depends what OS you are using. If you are using Windows I would recommend using Neo Trace Express. It's very simple to use and even better, it's free!Quote:

Neo Trace will give you all the info you're looking for and even an "abuse" email address. Copy the intrusion attempt log and forward it to the abuse address.

Use some service on the net to find the owner / location of an IP (mostly IP ranges)

Well if you are running windows you can use neotrace like blueline said or you can just open dos prompt and type tracert ipyouwanttraced. To find out what isp they are using go to the following links:
