Not my precise subjects of course, but I have had similar involvement over here. I might be able to chip in with UK and some EU perspectives?

You might think that .gov/.mil is country specific, but there is an overlap when contractors and third party software are involved.

I had to get my security clearance from the MoD, DoD, and NATO :)
