W7 startup items
Hi everyone,
Got an issue where some items in startup TAB under msconfig dont start up. There are others in there that have actually been removed off the system but are in there. I have tried removing them with Ccleaner to no avail.
Also, in msconfig under the general TAB I select a normal startup but it defaults to selective startup.
Is there a way to recreate the backend which does this or is a repair in order. Seems abit of a small issue to start with repairing / formatting.
Any neat tricks will be appreciated.
Thanks

Did you try a regedit? I'm not very familiar with Windows 7 registry yet, but in XP, most startups are under:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Back up anything you delete!

Yeah its the same reg key in Windows 7 but ive checked it and they dont exist. Seems to be stuck under the msconfig menu. Its just irratating me :)

The programs that aren't starting most likely require Admin rights to start or the just get blocked.....try setting the executables to alway run as Admin and see if that does it......also you could block UAC to test.....Good Luck

Hi Cider,
Windows 7 is more deep than actually considered
which version of win 7 are you using
is it Windows 7 Ultimate or home basic or enterprise
This question comes up because Win 7 Home basic/ home premium does not have group policy. so the registry changes according to the version

go get a autoruns over at Microsoft sysinternals site. it will help you, it will tell you if something exists. some applications are terrible at cleaning up after themselves.....

Here's a link for Autoruns for Windows. Good stuff.
Revo Uninstaller can help get rid of the remnants of already uninstalled programs.

ou can take help from youtube videos. there are thousands of videos about that problem. just check it.
