An Acermate, they don't make em anymore.
I had it upgraded several times back in 1993, it came with nothing and I put in cdrom/sounds/faster cpu/extra ram, and when the internet became available a 14.400 kbp modem.
technically... an old heathkit 8088, although I do still have my amiga's (yes, I have 3 amiga's..... what??)
and I do have an old DEC 320 in the garage oooohhh baby

.... and what about the mainframe 40mb drives that took a crane operator and 5 guys to hoist!
TRS-8080
so whats a floppy?
My first, if you could call it a computer. A Tandy.
As well, I have an Amiga and an IBM PC with 512k of memory in the closet. Er...Ummmm...Do you think windows will run on this? LOL
Floppys = Boat anchors.
Modem........sigh........I fell old now........I had to strap my first one into a shoebox style cradle and hang on for the long ride. As well I had to wait on the tape deck to cue up.
I hang my head in shame..... :(
Anyone remeber the Timex Sinclair..............?
My First Computer Was an Old IBM PCjr... talk about old... this thing didn't even have a hard drive in it. All it used was 51/4" floppy drives... oh yeah, and cartridges... I had a BASIC programming one, but then the PCjr bit the dust... *sob*
I still have the computer, and the motherboard and cards are now mounted in my locker at school... *sigh*
nib -- he he I still got a reel with pdc update files for HP's T500
1600 bits per inch man!! oohhhh yeah

Our first computer was an Apple 2e. Technically it was my parents. My first computer was a 386 with Win 3.1, and itty bitty hard drive, and a 2400 baud modem. I still have it, but it lacks a motherboard.
My first system was a C64. Those were the days. I loved my C64. Actually I've still got it. And it still works. hehe. Good for some of the older games like Ghostbusters & crap like that.
this one would have to be the newest of the old here i guess, my first one at home was a p75 / 8meg / 1.2 gig / win3.11 + dos6.22, cd sound etc
was almost top of the range for its time (about 6 or 7 years ago)
the first computer i ever used was at primary school (elementary to the US i think) was one of those old apples with the green screen and had everything running off 5 1/4 inch floppies.
although im still living in an antique shop with the thing im using at the moment...
i have dem computers which doesnt even have a HDD.. and needs dem BIG ASS floppys which is called in our times as MSDOS.. to make the puter run..
hmm, was either a TRS80,
or an IBM PC AT that I could use whenever I wanted.
I cant remember which came first.
hmmm... was it 8088 or 8086? no hdd and had those floppy loading ms-dos and pc-dos with 512k ram... it was the top of range at that time... :D
still remember the amt of disk swapping...

I started out with an Olivetti M24 (something like an 8086).
I then had an M19 (slower, but I used a VIC20 to soup it up). Two 5 1/4 floppy drives ... but I was able to run a word processor from it ... Lotus Manuscript. No spelling checker due to lack of space, but with plenty of disk swapping, I could make documents.
I then bought an IBM expansion case ... so that I could add a 30MB hardcard.
This brings back sweet memories ... playing around with QEMM to optimize memory and the like.
This make me feel old! :D
BrainStop
PS = thanks for the trip down memory lane.
My first was an Atari 1040 ST... I loved my Little Green Desktop :)

ANTI-HACKERS
On my PCjr, the ONLY game I could get to work was the intro work your keyboard game. It wasn't too bad...
Where should I start? My commodore 64 w/ it's cool cassette tape drive (NICE!) I also had a Dove 300 baud modem. the cradle kind. Sweet!
I was a cracker back then. I was in the GAC. We'd have contests to see who get past the copy protection first. It was fun. Not for profit. Those were the days.
I also had a CPM machine. It was a big translucent green box that was one of those all-in-one cases with a tiny monitor and it weighed around 80lbs. portable back then.
Ahh, the good ole' days! My first computer was a Packard Bell 486SX. I don't remember all of the specs for it, but I believe it had a 4X CD-ROM drive, 2400 baud modem, just a few hundred MB hard drive. It was a real speed demon! I had Windows 3.1 installed, DOS 6.0 probably, and I used QModem software to dial the local BBS's.
That was the first computer I actually owned, but I have been using computers since I was about five - that's when I got full exposure to true 'floppies!' Oh, the fun I had! I still have that old Packard Bell somewhere in my closet.
[ :D A commedor 64 I had to use a tape deck if I wanted anything done.....
I don't even use tapes to listen to music anymore :p
Oh man have things changed...........
--Sorry I haven't been around I just finished moving house. Still gotta lot of orginising to do..... damn!!!!
AT&T 8086 - a whooping 10 MHz, 5 1/4" drive, 20 MB of HD space, and 640Kb of memory....oh yeah...ran DOS 3.2...by the time of it's death, it had somewhere around 20 viruses on it :)
first one i ever used...was a main frame at the local university...not even sure what kind...but it was running the NMR research dept in the early to mid '70's...played lunar lander...but there was no screen...just a keyboard and a teletype thingie...entered the "lander data"...and a line would print out to show you the result...
I still have a copy of one of those print outs somewhere...
First one i owned
apple IIe with 64k...around 1980? (gaaad...i'm old... )
2 floppy drives...one for the os one for yer files
no mouse yet...wasn't a gui yet...did have 2 paddle wheel controllers for playing games tho..my fav was decathalon...
cost over 2000 bucks...
had a program called visicalc...the first spreadsheet prog...and really one of the first useful end user progrs ever invented...i believe it became Lotus1-2-3
visicalc screenshot.
if you use excel xp today....you could prob run visicalc without much trouble at all...(probably run better actually hehe)
