Hi there mate, what exactly are you looking for?
Panoramas
360 degree panoramas
Night shots
Urban shots
:)
THat's an amazing shot. Had to shoot about 4 pics with a wide angle lens. No camera shoots that wide an angle, not even a panaoramic one.
Joe,
You are right about it being more than one shot as there is an overlap. I have seen cameras that would do it in one hit................specialist panoramic ones with motorised tripod heads and film transport.
The principle is pretty much like photographing planets and such..........you attach the camera body to the telescope and use a motorised mounting to track what you are photographing so that you can give it sufficient exposure.
I suppose that technically they are multiple exposure cameras to get the exposure right as well, but you end up with a single negative.
So far I haven't seen anything digital along those lines. :)
Ah, never heard of those. Makes sense though. It would be multiple exposures yes.
Actually, I found this thread rather amusing as it reminded me of my college days when they would take those class group photos.
You know the ones?.................staff and student committee members sitting at the front, tall guys standing behind, and "vertically challenged" people standing on benches behind them.
There was always some joker who would wait for the thing to kick off, then run like hell along the back to the other end, so that they appeared twice on the photo :D
We didn't use exposures long enough to do that here.
Just had a quick look..............you can get 360 degree digital scanning cameras:

Yes, these were pretty old machines as I recall. They had clockwork motors and panned pretty slowly........I guess that the film was pretty slow (probably ASA 100) and the aperture pretty small (f16?) which required that.
Amazing. Better not show my pal in Leigh, he'll want one, and he's inches from having his wife throw him out, as it is. Man has more cameras and lenses than hair.
if you want huge...
