i believe in jesus, what do you guys believe?
but Michael Owen scores on the re-bound.
I believe in Linux.
I used to believe in Jesus and of course with Jesus come's God, but I dont know what happened to me but one day I was like nope. No God.
However I reckon if you believe in God there is and if you don't well there isnt if you get me.
There's some philosopher's here I would be interested in their opinions on the matter.
Yes:)
That's what I have a problem with, Ennis... I'm pretty sure there once was a very nice and friendly guy named Jesus.Quote:

Nothing wrong with christianity (as in 'act like Jesus would have').
But a god? No, thanks... And don't even start about catholicism and the pope... yuks...
What kind of god are we talking about anyways?
An all-knowing, interventionist god? The idea alone scares me...
'It was Gods wish' and stuff...yuks...
Like (some) kids have an imaginary 'friend' they have interesting conversations with, and they 'use' when in need of shelter, (some) grown-ups have a god they can turn to... Nothing wrong with that, but I believe in taking my life into my own hands...
God is opium for the people... And a strong opium, if u ask me... Used by demagoges to get whatever they want.
I recommend reading Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialog by Neale Donald Walsch. It presents a pantheist/deist view. Atheists may like it, as you can easily replace the word "god" for the word "universe". Most Christians will find it sacreligious.
I do not agree with the book in it's entirety, but it's major points are things I have always known.
The book insists that we are free and responsible for ourselves, as I too firmly believe.Quote:

The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis.
I jus thought that had something to do with the title of the thread.Quote:

"One day, Jesus and Satan decide to have a programming contest. This was after the J-man had seriously pissed off Satan, when he fragged Satan just as he was yelling: "3y3 0\/\/N3|) j33s|_|$". Anyway, God referees. Even though he favors we-know-who, he's a good guy, so he'll be impartial."
"So they both sit down at their computers, and start to program. Hours go by, and a great deal of soda is consumed. (In one case it gains heavenly benediction, in the other case the soda becomes accursed. Mythology has it that the rivalry of Pepsi and Coca Cola came from this, but nobody is sure which drink was drunk by who.) And then, in the final hour, a star goes 'nova somewhere in the circuit breaker and they have a power outage. (Reinforcing the idea that the universe is a machine set it motion by God, running independently, but as God intended beforehand.)"
"Satan curses at his computer, and boots up again, Jesus forgives the computer. Now, with only 30 minutes left on the clock, Satan goes on a real programming frenzy, but Jesus looks unperturbed. When the time is up, God asks them both to run their programs so that they can see who has done the better job. Naturally, they both did it in Universe++."
"Satan's is pretty good, but then Jesus runs his, and the media blows everyone away... Everyone is so astounded that they are blinded by love temporarily. When the flashbang clears, God announced that Jesus is the winner. Satan has been pw33ned. Satan yells that Jesus must have an aimbot, but God replies..."
"Of course Jesus won. When the power outage occured, you had to start all over... but when he works on things, Jesus Saves."
I believe in coffee and the Simpson's.
"Save me Jeebis!"
I believe in GOD and I believe that one day, his son (Jesus) walked on this earth.
But, in my opinion this subject shouldn't matter to anyone but each one of us.
i repeat, it's my opinion.
I am a Christian. God bless you all. :)

I believe in Jesus and God. I never used to until we started care giving for my grandmother, she opened me up to many more beliefs. Religion is great. Peace.:)
I believe we should each do what makes us happy, as long as we don't infringe on other's happiness. With strict interpretations of the Bible, I am not happy, and I cannot believe God or Gods would want this to be.
I don't belive... I don't say that he doesn't exist, I just don't believe in him.. If you could prove to me that he exists, I would believe... I believe there is a term for that, but I can't remember it right now...
"To each their own.. .but if you tread on my feet, I'll smack you upside the head"
I believe in God and I agree w/ messenoir. Strict interpretation of the bible and other religious text is not right. It's open for improvement and our own thoughts. I like to think that I have a place to go when I die and that at least somebody likes me...even though I do have friends, but you get the point.
But whatever, believe what ya want...if we all believed in God it'd be like a dictatorship.
What the hell is this thread doing in a security forum?
I don't know, but it is in the general chit chat forum, so I figure, just let it slide....
We really need a 'rant and rave' forum. Someone suggested that just recently. JP should looks into that.
this was a neat thread. i thought i was going to get flamed but everyone is really open to each others ideas, i think that is the heart of America (even though i know not everyone of you lives in America).
I definitely believe in Jesus and God, though I hate the strict bible sects. (No offense meant to any one who does believe in it, but) I seriously dislike the catholic church, it is way to strict, contains hundreds of rules and practices nowhere in the bible, except in sometimes very obscure ways. The pope and strict hierarchy was created by man, and in no way I know of sanctified by god, and therefor has no serious importance to me.
Sorry for the rant.
Interesting thing to check out that may change some opinions:
search for the bible codes. Try not to read the critics' views first, do read them, just not first.
Again, no offence meant to anyone.
I believe it's called the "doubting Thomas" syndrome, no relation to Tourettes.
If that was directed to my post about not believing unless you can prove it to me, hell yeah I doubt thomas... I don't even know him..:DQuote:

Oops... forgot to say that was for Matty Cross... shame on me..
I also believe in Jesus.
He is my Lord and Savior. I believe that he died on the cross for my sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead, and ascended into to heaven. I believe that these events are historically proveable, and that the evidence is undeniable.
Blessings....
Calvary
I thought it was addressed to me.. 8)
Hey Calvary, I see you found the correct thread.. :D
IF GOD EXIST WHO IS HE , IF HE DONT WHO ARE WE ???????
I'm Matty, and I'm an Aquarius.. :D

the government loves religion,(though they won't admit it) cause they have'nt found anything else that they can control the masses with as well as that.
I believe in Jesus, God, and the Spirit. I also believe that God is a god of love--not of wrath. I believe Jesus came to earth, and I believe he is comming back to take us home. I also believe that the Seventh-day is the Sabbath. I am a Seventh-day Adventist for those who want to now. I chalange any and every one of you who think Sunday is the true Sabbath to prove it to me. Thank you all for reading this. Remember God loves, God Saves.
Huh? Am I missing something here, or are you a talking mystery?Quote:

i'll throw in my two cents... it is interesting that our calendar is based on the death of Jesus... and we're not marking time after the death of anyone else are we?
I believe in me.
Jesus built my hot rod ...
:smokes:
Well I suppose that is correct but he is apparently the son of God, I would rather base a calender on a man millions believe in than just 'anyone else'?Quote:

I'd rather base my calendar on something like the stars n such, coz no-one can change those, no religion nor other types of organisation...
*I beg that people don't start shooting rockets at stars to prove me wrong... 8)*
Althought my desire to base on stars does leave one question.. where do you start???
It is almost morning... (about 20 minutes till sunrise).. I'm going to bed... mez sleepy...
nite/mornin' y'all
I personally have nothing against people who worship religion. I grew up not going to church or learning about god and Jesus, but rather than science. What I do believe in though is spirits or ghosts. I believe that when someone dies their body becomes an empty shell and their spirit becomes free and can either go to the spirit world, which is much like ours or can roam around this earth looking for unfinished business that may be bothering the spirit. I have been having some problems in one of my classes by these people who are hardcore religion peeps. Anyways they just say I'm going to go to hell for eternity because I don’t believe in what they believe, and the reason I don’t believe is because I don’t want to believe. **** you, this is America I have the right to believe in whatever the **** I want to believe in. Our government is not controlled by the church anymore go take a couple years in biology, history, and physics and get some god damn sense in your heads. Then they tell me I'm a Satanist! How the **** can I be a Satanist if I don’t even believe in god! Then they got the guts to go on and tell a good friend of mine that she’s a bitch cause she believes in Wicca, like the powers of the moon and the stars and so and such. What I'm about to say next may piss a lot of people off, but I believe that the bible is mostly full of bullshit. Back in the day when something extraordinary happen and they had no clue how it occurred they would just assume it was some "God". Anyways, how do we know Jesus didn’t have a twin brother?
How can these people claim to be moral people when they say you are going to hell instead of at least trying to convince you in the teachings of their religion. This is just old-fashioned and very few real Christians would say this to any person.Quote:

Many a time I have used this in arguments referring to religion.Quote:

The Bible is just a methaphor for life, it is not supposed to accurate but a collection of stories helping it's followers understand the way of life they should live etc.Quote:

Well Jesus did in fact live, it is fact. I think if he had a twin brother it would have been recorded.Quote:

I am open to debate on this one as Im not all that interested in religion and an atheist and Im sure others can give you a more concise answer than myself.
