P2P same as a VCR?
Yep, it looks that way according to a federal judge. As for why I posted to this forum.....P2P is generally considered a vulnerability therefore making it eligible to be a miscellaneous security discussion. At any rate, the story makes for a very interesting read.
If this holds, then P2P providers (Grockster, Streamcast, Sharman) will not be liable for copyright infringement initiated via their products which will force the RIAA and MPAA to focus their legal attacks on ISP's and individual P2P software users. Admittedly, Hollywood and the music industry have a lot of cash to do battle with....but I can't help but wonder if they have enough to sue EVERYONE in the US.
This should be interesting as it plays out to say the least.

They don't need to hit every body...just a few people and hit them hard (like those college kids in Mich.). If enogh people get scared of the RIAA and stop shareing the P2P comunity will fall apart.

Follow the logic, follow the logic.. You're not going to blame GM for manufacturing cars that kill a lot of pedestrians each year, are you? ;)

Exactly......now let's hope that Verizion can mount a successful appeal to protect all the "pedestrians" privacy from the RIAA/MPAA.
