There are plenty of good books that deal with begginer and intermediate c++. Any Deitel or Sams book on c++ wikll be fine in your case. Just make sure that it is a beginner book and not data structures or something.

I wasn't going to post in this thread because I've never read any books on visual C++. Because of this I cannot recommend any books to you, but I can give you some hints on where to start looking. Try the following links, and if the google link I gave you doesn't turn anything up, try different search strings.
If you don't know any C++, head on over to http://www.cprogramming.com and http://www.cplusplus.com for some beginners tutorials. I know that the tuts on cprogramming are good from personal experience.
Here's the urls:
http://www.google.com/search?q=msvc%2B%2B+books
http://www.amazon.com <-- you can search for yourself on that site
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk if you're from the uk (I'm sure there are other book sites for other countries)
Hope that helps you in some way.

I have "SAMS Teach Yourself Visual C++ 6 in 21 Days". I picked it up for free at the local library. It's a pretty decent book...
Other than that I agree with kryptonic. Freeprogrammingresources is a great site.

I'm actually learning from "C++ by Example - Learning with UnderC" (or something like that). Haven't advanced more into the book because I'm lazy but it's a pretty good book.
