This is just to ask how good everyone thinks that they are at hacking. whether your just getting into security or you've been doing it for a long time. Be nice to see how many people have been hacking for a long time! :D

I'M AN UBERHACKER BABY!
*wakes up*
I really don't know that much about hacking. I know a great deal about networking and the internet (for a 16 year old anyway), and came here hoping to learn more about security, and any other things that might be useful to learn, such as Linux.
Im more into just learning about computers than a hacker or security kind of person. Uberhacker's are few and far between I doubt anyone will vote they are seriously.
I know various issues, I do not excel in any particular field I prefer to just collect as much knowledge as I can and pass it on I suppose.
where have ya been stflook...missed ya...anyways...I'm just a newbie to the scene of security and hacking and stuff...i pretty much just lurk around as its obvious there are quite a few people here who do not believe that I have anything important to say...and would wish me to just be quiet...anyways thats my two cents
Welcome back Tripstone, long time no see or post for that matter.
i'm a elite uberhacker...of course...but jou already knew that (oh jou didn't) :p
Um, hacker, what???
Isnt this the online dating service?
well i guess those categories arbitary, as they are just titles, and not blurbs of each categories abilities. here is what i think each category is able to do:
newbie - nothing
hacker - account hacking
elite - site hacking
ueber - large corporation network / LAN / WAN hacking
Fear my uberhackerness! ;p
syxx@attrition.org
Only newbies say "jou", "joo", "jo0", j0u" or any other replacement for "you". Any truly "elite" hacker types normal and talks normal to help the image of the entire hacker community, any type of "l33tsp3ak" just makes us all look like idiots to the rest of the world.Quote:

UBERHACKER all the way.
Large Corporations are my thing
1) Motorola = free activate cell phone, unlimited calls.
2) McDonalds= unlimited meals
3) WellsFargo = stolen money
4) Delta= flights around the world
5) Microsoft = I'm in charge of producing all pirated software
6) GateWay = free Computers, donated millions to schools
7) Brian= the local drug dealer is organized on the computer
8) Beverages & More = imported beers
9) DMV= clear off all my speeding tickets
10) Supior Court = I bribe them to make sure I never go to jail.
That's why I'm an UBERHACKER.
Well I think this is a interesting topic that has been asked for alot of years now..."How good of a hacker are you?" Well, I only speak of myself by saying I do not classify on a level by saying what level of hacking/cracking that I fall under. The way that I see hacking is deeply exploring a program...seeing the flaws in it and trying to make it work correctly. Alot of times ISP's see it as someone is trying to screw up their program. I must admit I have hacked into a few web-sites, cracked so-called encryted password list but the beauty of it all is that most of the hacking and cracking that I have done was done to my own computer and web-site as well. Yes temptation got the best of me and I did branch out and started practicing on those who thought that "nuking" and "backdoor" trojans was going to give them instant access to my computer files. Those are the people that gets me pissed off! If any one could call themselves elite hackers should be getting employed for upper-class job positions because those who knows about real hacking knows that hackers do not hang out in here!
Heh... nice list.. here is mineQuote:

Lmao im a newbie to hacking hell anything security:P i got interested in it a while back, then i slowly drifted away, and now im back!
<STUPIDITY>
I am the worlds best hacker..
no compare to me when I get out my axe and start swinging it wildly at the computer, falling into a beserker rage... decimating the helpless computer I fall in a heap on the floor... and notice there is a disk in the floppy drive.. that's why NTLDR wasn't found... oh well....
I wonder if insurance will cover the computer...
:D
</STUPIDITY>
Seriously though.. I'm not a hacker.. I've never tried.. but I know.. stuff.... I like learning stuff.... do you have any stuff to share with me?? ;)
I am not a hacker, and there is no conspiracy.
Newbie, I would suppose, because I don't consider myself a hacker.
I attempted to audit the security of my corporate network, I was able to break a few things but not really get any useful information except a few employee's passwords (people actually use passwords like dog, cat, abc, it's rediculous ... well, not anymore, we have a password policy now.) I'm sure if I tried anything against a network I don't run I'd be found out quickly.
I am a Uber-newbie/non hacker. I have never broke into anything nor could I. If I tried I would be in jail or getting a police beat down in about 5 minutes. Worlds worst hacker seems like a good term. I also am nowhere near an excellent programmer, but I am learning, and in a year I will have a bachelors to go with my two associate degrees. Tripstone I have found that no one cares to hear what I have to say either, and recently I have gotten a ton of negative antipoints for everything from making too many posts to asking questions about peripherals in the general discussion forums. I will probably get negative antipoints for this post, but I DONT CARE. If those of you out there dont like me and want me to go away, you can ignore me. You dont have to give me a ton of negative antipoints telling me Im stupid as the only reason. I am here until JP bans me.Quote:

actually if it was up to me i would probly make up a new catagory to put me under
really big computer geek/know it all
computer security is my life i strive to learn more and more every day so that one day i will become the uberhacker that takes over the world......um...no....but as a 17 year old i know a lot of stuff but not everything...mostly dealing with with *inx
-Unix,Live Free or Die
Do I consider myself a hacker? If I said yes, then I would be the one who wanna-wanna-be-script-kiddies (I.E AOL script kiddies) laugh at and try not to be like (and that is sad). If I say no, I retain my dignity, and my chances of scoring a girlfriend are still as low as ever, but I will not go to jail, or get my ass beat for being a wanna-be hacker. Because I say no, the only insult I will have to face is at school is being called a maniacal "scary" person in a school where I am one of the computer people, and therefore get ridiculed because of it, but that isn't too painful, and normally goes away after a few liters of a caffinated beverage. So if I was asked this question, I, of course, would have to say no... it is a hell of a lot easier to wake up in the morning and know that a major corporation will not lose money because of my actions.
i think most of hte ppl that will click on uberhacker and speak in 1337sp3k are those that see tha move hackers and goto yahoo and type in how to hack get sub 7 and think yah this is fun im hacking but never learn i think most of you out their that call them self hackers we are all in a state of constatnt learning as new os's come out exploits etc i personnaly think that their is hacker at the top but different levels of script kiddienes \
1. script kiddie never learn sit their with sub 7 cause trouble
2. leet script kiddie those like mafia boy who have some under stading of what their doing but still require others to right the programs for them
3. uberscriptie those like everyone on here can use *nix machines have a great knowledge of computers and have written a few programs them self or have found exploits
4. hacker those like JP that we all strive to be like
well thats my thought thanks for reading
also
try
www.area-6.net for the best online challenges ive seen to prove ur rank hehe
Hell.. all I know about hackin' is what my instructor taught me in my CIW Certification classes. :p
<smartass>
¿¿¿hmm whats a computer???

well at least I have a life

I would say I am not a newby nor an elite, still got a lot of OS's I want to work with.
But then again on the net everybody can say they're leet, and I doubt anybody here is leet. That includes JP.
I have seen the elite, and they are not popular nor famous.
Im a "newbie" to this forum, but not to the game, if you want to call it that.
First, lets define hacker. Taken from the well known book Maximum Security, a hacker is anyone who fully understands several OS's and their short comings, writes code, and burns for more information.
A hacker is not a windows based script kiddie launching DOS attacks with his army of IRC Evilbots. Or the 13 year old scanning IP's for open 139's. These people have nothing other than malicious intent aimed at unseen faces behind an IP address.
As far as levels of hacking aptitude go, how can you judge that. In these days of broadband internet access for the masses you have more and more vulnerable static IP's poping up every day. How can you compare a newbie hacker to the old skool guy from the days of WarDialers and DEC vt100's. Though security protocals are being beefed up and exploits are patched rather quickly, it is my experience that the ocean of home networks has become a wide open gaping hole in the security of the "information super highway" . Expecialy with the plethra of "hacker coded" software out there that does the work for you.
In short, hacking is the new age graffiti. Its a common and nightly occurance. Some are cought, some arent. Thats that. I will however continue my efforts toward a safer networked enviroment for those of us who wish to be left alone.
im only a newbie... im only 15 years old... and only got into this stuff over last summer... but still know a lot... i could be a "script kiddie" as of know... but im stayin away from that... and i plan to learn everything i can... mabey i will never be a hacker... but mabey i will be... time can only tell...
lately a girl has gotten in the way though...
