If you use the uninstall it leaves you still unable to do some programs. I had a terrible time yesterday. I could not connect to the ISP untill I re-installed it!

ZA leaves some files and registry entries behind after a deinstallation. A earlier thread described the problem in depth (the same as you have) and the solution to your problem.
Try search for Zone Alarm and ZA here at AO and see if you'll find the earlier thread. Im at work and have limited time (cofee break) so I cant find the thread for you, sorry.

u'll find what u need ...
enjoy.
I had some similar problems. You have to get rid of a few files and their registry keys. It's all ZA's fault, it leaves some files left over sometimes.
thanks bimmer, but I did see that post and that's why I went with sygate. Those files were not left on my system. I did find though that the truevector and mini log where looking for files only after I used norton win doctor. I searched out the files and deleted them. Still to no avail I could connect to my ISP, have them verify it, but could not communicate, not even ping. I reinstalled zone and whalla! Oh, and I did a norton uninstall which does a pretty good job of locating all associate files.
then man ... i'm sorry ... i don't have the right answer for u ... but i'm sure the friends in AO here will help u ...
good luck
I've seen a lot of complaints about ZA....
*thinkin ZA should write a patch to solve this prob.*

Bottom of the page for different OS'es......
True Vector Technology. Something new for me to learn about.
I'll have to look that up..
Right now I'm using McAfee.com Personal Firewall, but considering Zone Alarm or Tiny since they're free ( McAfee is around $80 a year ) and they look to be about the same thing.
Gotta have a firewall - after seeing all the pings and attempts to hack into my system I could never go without one now!
Thanks for the link (http://www.zonealarm.com/services/support_install.htm )
Want to know all I can about these Firewalls.
Dinoman - should have enough info here to solve your problem - good luck!
