Is it internet intruder? Or someone that physical access to computer...Windows 98 has very poor security, at best. Windows 2000 is much more secure...but weak game playing abilities. For someone that has physical access to computer, I have used "Folder Guard", which is a java based app. to secure folders...they will remain hidden and secure (unless booted in "safe mode"). This works even over a LAN. For internet security, I use a router (w/cable modem) and "Zone Alarm"... Ok solution for home user. Make sure that you "file sharing" is turned off.
what do u mean by intruder, are u infect with sub7 or a trojen? or are u just woried about people breakin in to ur computer?

do you mean on the login screen? because that is just easly bypassed by any moron..
if u wont a more secure login just use NT or XP or 2k
95 98 ME are basicly useless in my eyes, they may be more simple but they also freeze and blue screen every 10 mins and have little to no built in security.
if u want a more secure OS i just suggest getting a new one. You can easly get a windows XP CD off a friend or even schools.

holes there awful when it comes to

If it's an Intruder and you have the IP don't bother for one
thing the IP likely belongs to someone who had there computer
hacked the attacker is using the man in the middle to
make it look like the innocent guy is responsible......
the right way to proceed is to download my netwatchman:
www.mynetwatchman.com so next time he returns and
attacks you again the report will go out to the ISPS
the scans or attacks are coming from and theyll warn
there customer to clean there machine or do something
about there security.
