Do you have any antivirus software? It looks like(IMHO) that you might have the "Iloveyou" virus....
Instructions for removal hereQuote:
Deletes the following files:
mskernel32.vbs
Win32dll.vbs
LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.VBS
LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.HTM
Win-BugsFix.exe
Recurses all drives deleting *.VBS files containing
"I hate go to school" in the first line.
(Creates a file named drclnily.txt at the
root of each drive so that it will only scan a drive once.)
Deletes the following registry entries:
HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run\\MSKernel32
HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run\\WIN-BUGFIX
HKLM\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\RunServices\\Win32DLL
It is probably a virus, I googled win32dll.exe error and got about 50 pages of virus related material
i have an AV.. i scanned the dir.. but no virus found.. when format the partition... and install back the win box.. still faced the same prob... untill i formated all the drive......... c,d,e,....hahaha... funny huh.....
Hey hookah
Check for sysrnj.exe (certainly in c:\windows\system) folder. Could you access registry.
Once i too had the same problem. If i double-click an .exe file winzip.exe gets opened. But you can open a file (eg. example.doc) by dbl-clicking on it. My box is installed with Nor. AV2002. It did not reported any virus.
Symptom:
This particular file take control of all the executables in the system.
Change of Application to EXE file, Bitmap image to BMP File, etc.
- Actually Windows displays an executable as "Application"
Solution:
Boot the system with virus-free floppy and reinstall windows. Once it is over,
1. Delete sysrnj.exe from HDD.
2. Run regedit.exe.
- Search for sysrnj.exe entries and delete.
- Search for rnjfile and delete.
