Too many parameters
I installed nmapwin 1.3.1.exe on my computer,running windows 98se.
At start-up i see the message: c:\>set path=c:\windows;c:\windows\command;c:\progra~1\grisoft\avg6;c:\program files\nmapwin\bin too many parameters
c:\>set nmapdir=c\program files\nmapwin\
i didn`t see this message after installing AVG. anti-virus
anybody know what i did wrong? i don`t have any experience with autoexec.bat, but from what i`ve read so far it looks like i need to set the path to these programs...???
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

Last time I played with nmap for windows it would only work on NT and the like
Is this still the case.

There's a space between program and files. Try and change "program files" to progr~1.

Steve...yes....nmap works fine with windows 98.
The question is : HOW do i change the parameters?
-
You can edit autoexec.bat with notepad. Just right click on the file and choose Edit...

well i edited autoexec.bat like you said and it didn`t help. thanks for the tip on editing.
anyways i changed it back to what it was.
here`s what i get...i enclosed a screenshot.

It's the space in Program files try the DOS (FAT16) notation progra~1
that should help..
space is the token for multiple parameters, and SET PATH only takes 1

Also note there is a handy dandy utility microsoft provides:
Start -> Run -> 'sysedit'
Bypasses the annoyance of having to worry with notepad wanting to always save as '.txt'
/nebulus
-
That worked....
Thanks for all the help. :D
edit-> that sysedit IS handy as well as dandy. i never knew about it.
I`m learning so much everyday my brain is ready to explode.

Sigh... That's what I said all along
Oh well. On the other hand I just cannot help but wonder why someone wants to play around with a powerful tool like NMap when they don't even grasp the simple things like editting autoexec.bat
