Whilst going through one of my fave magazines this month I came across an article concerning this Steganos New Product  Although a few hours (if that) on Google could reproduce this...does it stick in anyone elses throat as much as mine?

Ohh goody...now I know what to get the skiddies for Christmas..
Seriously, you're right..it doesn't take long to find them anyway. I think the only people that would really be interested are security professionals anyway...and I would hope even a newbie at the job would know where to find this stuff... I don't see a big future for this product, but that's just because I am jealous that I didn't think of it first..:)
I'm going to come out with my own product "A Homeowner's Guide to Rootkits". I just gotta find all those links first..
Looks like someone is out to capitalise on the growing scirptkiddie craze. Lookie, lookie....all the tools you need to be a Hax0r. While putting in the context of security of course.
Should be perfect for alot of the scriptkiddies who are too lazy to read much, or even google for a definition.
Maybe some of them will run out and buy this and stay off of AO.
Now we know what to get all the AOL trolls (for Christmas) on this board asking how to hack. (Not you Memory) ;)
Dont want them running nix huh? Probably be too hard for them...Quote:
For PCs running Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 or XP.
 I was thinking the same thing..Quote:

It doesn't say that they are actual "working" viruses. I would think the potential liability would be too high..
SK : "Hey Mom/Dad can you get me this for Christmas"
Mom/Dad : "What is it?"
SK : "Something for the 'puter that is real cool."
Mom/Dad : "Sure honey."
There's enough kids spending time looking for these. Now we get the ones, like moxnix said, who are too lazy to look. I mean why spend 10 mins on Google when you can install and push the "Use this tool (ahem only for security education purposes)" button.
Groovicus, you want investors in that little venture :D If Steganos can make cash on this, well hell lets all go for it! LOL
Love this part too:

It dosent mention that you will be disabling your antivirus if you want any of these programs to work....Quote:
The Steganos Hacker Tools are a collection of 100 of the most dangerous hacker programs. Steganos lets you in on the tricks of password hackers and data spies – because you can only protect yourself from these dangers if you understand them. This compilation groups the most dangerous hacker tools and shows how hackers crack passwords, spy on strangers’ PCs or manipulate registry entries, for example. The tools include the best of the worst – such as BackOrifice, SubSeven or NetBus. They allow users to learn the dirty tricks of hackers so they know how to protect themselves. Steganos Hacker Tools also include trial versions of Steganos security software. This allows users to find out which software is best at protecting them from hacker characters.
Nope, straight up, they are fully working. Lots of disclaimers about "Don't be a bad kiddie" and "Only use these for the purposes of education". The magazine review was hilarious in it's increduality...they near enough printed "WTF?" with a picture of the product :)Quote:
