bah! spit on you for saying that about Perl...
jost kidding around- but i had to say something!
as far as structure, i think C is the cleanest (IMO)
i used Python .... as much as i read on their site Python is the easiest language for beginners .... i think the best designed is C# (sharp) ... you dont have to write that much code .... that just my opinion :)
is not C# just C++ with .net functionality?
i've only seen M$ C# Materials, do they have C# for *nix (gcc) ?
I like C/C++ and Java. C is small and fast. C++ extends C with OOP features as well as a few others. Java code can be really clean. My personal favorite would have to be C++.
Whitspace is the best, by far.

C++ is the best for universal programs that work with most all OS's and is widely accepted in business, but it really depends on your experience.. as C is a very hard language to learn, if you are new to programming try visual c or visual basic it can be alot more user friendly.. also it will have you creating your own programs in no time.. a great place to start for programming newbies as it will lay the foundation to harder languages, lastly visual basic is good because it wont make you give up as easily!
I think its C++
it is good and it even corrects some errors
