update on id implant
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A company in the US has been given the go-ahead to implant a chip that would contain both personal and medical information.
But it seems the permission has been given indirectly.
The US Food and Drug Administration has indicated that it does not consider the chip, made by Applied Digital Solutions (ADS), a medical device, and as a consequence it does not feel it falls under its jurisdiction, according to the company.
The chip, called VeriChip, has been criticised by anti-intrusion campaigners for its 'Big Brother' capabilities.

Talk about rushing something through. A device that requires a doctor to surgicaly implant it dosn't fall under their jurisdiction, thats novel.

hey tedob... this was already posted once... but thanks for the info...
i do disagree with the chip, but i would not call it a "big brother" chip yet, do to the fact that it is voluntary... but i will be contesting it on my site....

getting closer
Yes this might not be Big Brother yet, but we are sure getting closer..... i mean even if i had medical issues i dont know if id want that chip in me..... i wonder if the govt will set up a unit to inforce it and make sure its not used illigaly in some fassion, although im sure the govt would want some power to use it themselves :)
