Butterfly or Emperor?

I read in a book by George RR Martin this little snipette ;

"A butterfly dreaming it was an emperor,

wondering if it were an emperor dreaming it were a butterfly".

Mystery written on a slip of paper:
"The statement on the other side is TRUE.
on the opposite side it said:
"The statement on the other side is FALSE.

Come to that, what do you call these sort of sayings?
