Is there any program available that will monitor traffic on a server and when it reaches a set percentage of its bandwidth will trigger a warning to the admins? I posted in the security forum becasue one of the guesses as to why we were hitting such spikes was an attack on the server, so instead of constantly watching its stats we were looking for a program that will alert us when it reaches an abnormal level of activity.

This link to Foundstone, they have an absolute stack of options there.
Also windows 2000 server has built in monitoring tools that will allow triggered alerts and monitoring on such things like Processor usage and such.

If it's a WinNT, (NT, 2K, XP), based box then there are performance counters that you can set alerts on. That's the limit of my knowledge on that... I have an employee that implements them... :D. If you need more help ask and I'll ask him how they work etc. Heck, I could use the practicsal knowledge myself.....

Actually if you have Win2k or XP it's right there under manage computer. You can set up all sorts of parameters for monitoring and alerts. As I said I have never really played with them but you should be able to fiddle with them and see how they work and then have it alert to where you want when the parameter is exceeded.
