Also animals do have rights they have the right to be eaten with your choice of potato.

As far as I know the net mask should be 255.255.255.0 . This may or may not be your problem.

What I have found is that with most NIC's you have to boot in dos and run the diagnostic utility and make sure both are working and NOT set to the same IRQ and I/O port

It all depends on how much more reading you want to do. If you read the FAQ's and HOW-TO's and do a lot of other reading as well you can get good with it fairly quickly.
