hey man unless the data is important just fdisk the harddisk
remove the partition and fdisk/mbr it ok

battery removal works or check in the motherboard for clear cmos jumper or there are certain motherboard just press the J & F keys when ur turning the machine on that too clear the cmos but not sure...

my friend in you already have a motherboard which supports PIII processor then via c3 cpu is fine for your kind of job but it has some problem with hardcore games and if u did not bye a motherboard...
