Yes, sadly. After doing some searching with the google I have found all kinds of unflattering stories about him. I now know not to take him seriously. KP

Starting to think you're both right. I know I can't listen to Security Now because he really gets on my nerves quickly.
Thanks to all for the advice and suggestions.

Overheat problem solved!!! Despite staring at installation instructions over & over, I had put the brackets on wrong, resulting in a very tiny gap between cpu and heatsink. Tech support sent me...

No, I hadn't seen that, thanks for the link. I agree, it's too hot. I'll keep messing around with it and see what I can come up with. KP

The cpu is set at the default in the bios. I thought about cranking it down just a tad to see if that made any difference.

I downloaded a different program called SpeedFan. It's showing me the same temps, sort of...
Perhaps I'm just stupid (ok, I am), but I don't really know whether I've got a problem or not now. ...

Just re-read your post and I think you thought I was giving my temps in Fahrenheit, but actually I was posting the temps in Celsius. Let me know if I'm misunderstanding you.
I'm running...

Very cool, thanks for the idea. I've got a FreeNAS box I back up important stuff too, but I'd like to be able to do full system backups when I have enough storage available.
Actually, I'm...

Didn't know that, thanks! I haven't really had time to install any other apps yet or do any other testing. Hope to get some time after work tonight to play with it some more. KP

I finally got around to installing Slackware 12.2 on my old Pentium II. Hope you don't mind a really long post, but this is my recap of how things went during the install.

I'd recommend you report him to Charles Soludo. I get emails from him all the time and I think he's pretty tight with the FBI director. :D

I used to dual-boot PCLinuxOS on my laptop with XP Pro. I liked it, although I didn't have access to the updated repositories due to to being too cheap to pay for access. For the heck of it, I...
