Could someone whip up a tutorial on the basics of forum security? VBulletin, InvisionBoards, etc...What dangers are out there, how to prevent being 0wn3d, best practices, etc.

Pooh mentioned something about scanning a network by hand instead of using an all-in-one network scanner. If someone could teach the basics of THAT in a tutorial, they will forever gain my praise!

I would really like to see someone write a tutorial on how to read router log files to catch suspicious activity, and how to compare it to firewall and other logs.

I dunno Er0k, consider a few points:
1) A thread like this provides actual worthwhile content in GCC. ;)
2) Do we really need a whole forum? Since requests would mostly be one-line questions,...

I've had more than one person come to me and ask something down the lines of "I'm drawing a blank. Can you think of a good tutorial I could write?" Since I'm almost always in the middle of trying...
