Could someone whip up a tutorial on the basics of forum security? VBulletin, InvisionBoards, etc...What dangers are out there, how to prevent being 0wn3d, best practices, etc.

Pooh mentioned something about scanning a network by hand instead of using an all-in-one network scanner. If someone could teach the basics of THAT in a tutorial, they will forever gain my praise!

Yeah, and piont me to follow him when you point him...I need to learn that too presently!

I would really like to see someone write a tutorial on how to read router log files to catch suspicious activity, and how to compare it to firewall and other logs.

Indeed, it's coming along, but you still need to go check out the rough draft yo!

I dunno Er0k, consider a few points:

1) A thread like this provides actual worthwhile content in GCC. ;)
2) Do we really need a whole forum? Since requests would mostly be one-line questions,...

That's the article that gave me the idea! I want to know more though, particularly about what this header encapsulation is that the article talks about.
