Have you tried disconnecting it from the internet??? If you do and it still shuts down then you will know its something running on your machine and if it does not then it is something remotely...

The blank password is default for just about every windows OS... Most installs have some sort of program (ie Sysprep) that Prepares your system for use and one of the tasks is to set the default...

Even that wont get rid of "all" the data. There are still ways to recover some of the data. Granted they involve ALOT more work. The best way to clear it is with a utility that 0's the drive then 1's...
