Even if you know the person, you should download files you dont know why you're receiving. Damn those files with multiple extensions to delete hell on sight. Ty for the warning

depends on your modem chipset they've pretty much given you the links already. linmodems helped me set up my LT winmodem under linux :)

AVG is always a nice and free solution. I'm strange so I prefer f-prot dos version. It doesnt have all the great features like AVG but it seems to get the job done.
