Kellybelly: i have one more thing to add.
i believe your printer is a parallel one, can you check ( count ) number of pins in male side of cable , there might be a pin lost or broken.

in addition to what gore has said for checking ur PC
1- check that ink is ok.
2- check if driver is correct for ur OS version.
3- check that head are clean
4- do some cleanings inside.
