I wonder how many viuses do specific anti-virus programs scan for, and know of their existance...

Switch to dos prompt,

it wil return a message like "Bad command or file name". Ignore that,

Most admins will do needed modifications to the mail server, to prevent it for anonymous relaying (as stated by others above). But most of them keep the mail sending option open via web.

You can't change your IP (the one that was assigned to you in your connection to your ISP), but you may spoof it. Make it look different than actually it is to the targeted service.

Try using Norton-Antivirus, or McAffee against those creepy worms. Those anti-virus apps. really help.
Btw, .scr worms/viruses can do many malicious things just as the .exe viruses do.

Wardialers are the "old" versions of scanners that scan a range of IP's.
The different thing is that, you don't have to pay really big amounts of phone bills with new scanners and they are limited...

For the L0pht question;
1. "John The Ripper" (Multi Platform)-> Cracks only the LanMan hashes, notify that JTR is case insensitive in cracking the hashes, so you may try to find the correct case...
