I had the exact same error on a desktop with new drives in it. Mashed on the connectors and it fired right up. You could also try booting to a diagnostic floppy from the HDD manufacturer.

I agree. I use Sam Spade all the time. Found some very interesting things with it. I also block alot of things at the router..... including ads and pop-ups.

Check the event viewer for a cdrom error then look the event number up on the ms knowledge base.
