I have this weird problem. When I try to boot my computer, there may happen a variety of things:
1) it may either hang during POST
2) sometimes it passes POST but hangs before starting the...

I think there was a certain kernel module missing, so I tried compiling one, which it didn't like. So I install slack 12, with huge kernel, problem fixed. Now recompiling a not-so-huge kernel. Things...

I run slackware 10.2 with 2.6.13 kernel (selected test26.s kernel at install).
Now my usb mouse won't work, although I choose USB Mouse at mouseconfig?
This mouse has worked before (slack 10.2 with...

Yea, never mind. Some fancy map-drive statements fixed the problem.

I install slackware 10.2 on this IDE disk, and windows Xp on a sata disk. Then I put a Lilo bootloader in the MBR of the IDE disk. I used a sata-compatible kernel (test26.s). I add both windows and...

That's a useless question since I never said that.
That is wrong with it.
About ESR; I'm not saying he's an idiot or something, of course he knows his stuff. He just doesn't compare to all the...

You are 18 years old, make a post that seems like it comes from a 10 year old, add the My Super man ego comments and anyone should conclude that you are hopeless.
Tech humor indeed :D.
ESR is...

Hm, I tried using sata.i and that didn't work either. The device is at least visible to slackware as it is listed with lspci too, but there's no support for it then I assume.

I know, I don't understand that. In some places it says SCSI and in others it says SATA, in knoppix it is mounted as /dev/sda1, so I assumed it to be an SCSI drive.
If that is the case then the...

I did lspci -vv and it displayed similar information.
Intel Corp. 82801FB/FW (ICH6) SATA Controller.
There are a bunch of other kernels available too, not listed in that bootdisk list.
I now...

I'll see, I installed slackware with the scsi3.s kernel and it did not show the drive.

Lol, I can't find any controller that even looks like the ones that are on my disks.
This Linux-drive is a Maxtor 6Y080M0 drive, in the windows Computer Managment utility it says: Intel (R) 82801FB...

Thanks for your help g0re and the_Jinx and cybermonk.
Lilo install did not work because I assumed that if slack was being installed on dev/hdb Lilo would also install on that drive. But it was...

I'll try that.
Haha. It's really weird, xp and slack both say I have 2 cpu's (P4 hyperthreading), and both disks are 80gig, while the second one was supposed to be 40. Also both disks where...

Lol.
I have read your tutorial on installing slackware, then installed slackware. The only thing that failed to install was Lilo.
Lilo is going to be in MBR, not root.
The only problem is, how...

I'm not modifying the windows drive mbr, it may screw up things.
It seems there is no feasible solution :( .
Also, assuming that lilo installs properly on the slackware MBR, because the windows...

I have a computer with a SCSI disk which contains windows XP pro, and an IDE disk which is supposed to contain slackware 10.2.
Everything installs just fine, but when I try to install Lilo it fails...

That's well written warl0ck7. Good job!
That other one is WH_KEYBOARD_LL, to monitor low level keyboard events.
But WH_KEYBOARD does the job :).
If you never heard about hooks, you cannot...

Is jxl archive a standard archive?
Perhaps the code in the archive is messed up, or perhaps it was written some years back so it is incompatible with newer excel files. Try it with an excel 95...

They seem to be the solution, thanks.
