Not with the corporate routers that the OP is using as the subject of the tutorial - they don't ship with a default password set, they ship with no telnet/SSH password set, but will not allow anyone...

This is not allowed by default, hence 99.9% of the time you won't ever be able to telnet/ssh to a router/switch etc that has no telenet password set.
