Try reinstalling NIS. This kind of thing is often solved by reinstalling. Also, NIS uses up a lot of resources. Were you running many programs at the time?

There used to be so many free firewalls and antiviruses. Now some have gone commercial, others have died. Now only a few survivors are truly free.

Lately my computer has been displaying explorer.exe application errors like "'0x02ea6041' referenced memory at '0x02ea6041'. The memory could not be 'read'." randomly when I start programs such...
Actually, by crippled they mean that the companies took some of the features out the pro versions and made it the free version. One example is the Zonelabs ZoneAlarm free version you mentioned.

Personally, I like ZoneAlarm. Few years ago, I tried a whole bunch of free firewalls. My favorites were Kerio and ZoneAlarm. Try them one at a time... maybe you might...

I know that it is not divx software because I dont have any and there is no registry key where there is supposed to be. I might try scanning in safe mode later. I will get WinPatrol first :)

I ran the SFC without any error messages. Right clicking in the control panel invokes the menu though when I right click on some items it takes a while. It also happens in safe mode when I right...
