i had this same problem when i set up my home network... i later realized that it is the firewall (i was using zonealarm at that time) what u need to do is to add the ip address of the other computer...

i highly doubt any antivirus technology can access/scan a password protected compressed file... since u will need to have the password to decode the stuff in there before u can actually read the file...

it happened to me once too... apparently there was a conflict between some apps... i have a hp laptop and apparently quick buttons (or something like that) was the problem... updated it and it is...

if u r running that box behind a router then maybe u should try resetting the router... my friend had this problem once (not virus attack or anything) and he reset the router and it was back to...

yeah i have gotten all latest OEM Drivers.. i tried the ones in MS's updates site but it messes up my system so i stick with HP's drivers.
but yeah i will try to reinstall the drivers later
