ua549 did you sort this issue, I had exactly the same issue on a XP Client.
It was down to the half of the DHCP lease it was only set to a day, we increased to 5 days and problem solved :)

Yeh what ua549 says fits I am also on AD 2003 - All admins (that use this machine) need to be in the local administrator group.
Try the UAC - Universal Access Control it might be set too high.

Well it seems to have started working all of sudden, the only think I done apart from trying from other clients.
