Concerning SSH, I have to answer for some questions above (Vorlin) :

IpCoder is right, firewall support is built-in in RedHat 7.2 or Mandrake 8.1.

Agreed with Psionic, if you have a box ready to do that job, install in under FreeBSD and configure packet filtering.
