Well, as the old saw goes, I disagree with his opinion, but will defend his right to hold and express it. It doesn't bother me one way or another if someone is gay, as long as he doesn't try to stick...

It'd be nice to have the exact error message, because it's likely that a google search will bring up a result. My apologies if you've already tried it, but google tends to be a fantastic place to...

Sounds like your DVD drive is a SATA? If it is, maybe that has something to do with it... Maybe a more recent version of the CDs. Or try a more mainstream distro like ubuntu, just to make sure

Have a look at Jabber, it's an open source IM system and you will not have to write a single bit of code. You will of course have to host your own server, but that's about it....

SirDice, it's almost certainly Linux... (the GLIBC is a dead giveaway :D). As for a statically linked version, is compiling it yourself not an option?

I'd say going for the upgrade version would be the cheapest. As far as your Windows XP Professional goes, an in-place upgrade should be easy, if not always the best way. However, just remember that...

I tried once, in VMWare, and it installed fine but failed to boot. I've been meaning to try again for a while now, but I've been busy with University and never really got the time for an extended...

I'd say XP, but with themes disabled. Themes tend to bog down the slower systems slightly (though, to be honest, I don't know how much it'd affect a 800 mHz system). I'd also install the nVidia...

This is normally the case when you're using a standard computer. However, mobile CPUs from Intel and AMD have been capable of dynamically regulating their speed for quite a while now. This is...

I'm not surprised with the uptime at all. My computer stays on pretty much all the time for p2p and other stuff. I frequently get uptimes of close to a month since the only reboots/shutdowns are when...

Hmm... your problem seems to be quite obscure. A google search for formatting comes up with a lot of results, but none that I could see with your problem. You might want to try a different flash...

Try using Windows Update to get the latest drivers for the audio chip. You might have better results, since Windows Update only shows WHQL certified drivers.
