I'm not sure why people are still bashing VB these days. It's grown up quite a bit, with the .NET framework and all (WPF, ADO.NET, LINQ, etc). It's very easy to learn and is just as powerful as C#...

I'm wondering if maybe WMP is causing all of this? It could be recieving from a Limelight hosted stream. Check your plug-ins and such.

Try Visual Studio 2008 Express (free). .NET has tons of support for AD. VB.NET is a good starting language for those new to .NET
