It seems it shouldn't have to work that way since it is on the same network, otherwise all pcs on a network would have to have the same login to share files.

i'm using the the actual name of the box which is \\deepthought. \\deepthought\ipc$ seems to be the drive (correct?) So "net use \\deepthought\ip$" connects me succesfully acording to the Computer...

stil no dice. I'm trying it on my pc and all methods are coming up the same. Is it just because the drive itself isn't being shared? Does this mean that the rest of my drive is totally secure then?
