What I have is an XP machine hooked up to the internet via dial up, and a router connecting the other machines to the net by way of the XP machine. I think I had an ethernet card go bad...

Maybe I miss understood you. I thought that you wanted to add another HD to support another OS. If you have a large enough HD and if storage isn't a problem then Partition Magic meets your needs.

Some viruses will attack your (bugbear) norton or other AV and not allow the update, you have to manually download the updates.
