Unfortunately that doesnt fix the issues = thanks for the info though = the rebuild of tcpip doesnt remove tcpip just reset the reg keys and some log file

this article is incorrect - it is impossible to uninstall
tcpip under a win xp machine due to the fact it is a core

well if your using win98 - you can removed dial up adapter from your network properties and removed the winsock2 folder from the registry under local machine - system - current controlset - services...

its a flaw in the isp - normaly DHCP would override static settings - BUT what if the isp had a flaw where Static had priority

lets say that your isp uses dhcp but if you staticly assigned a ip to yourself that was in the same subnet you could steal the internet connection of that pc - would that be traceable

On a network if there is a active Dhcp server then the dhcp settings should override static setting???
